Each collage begins with an assortment of found, self-created and fine art papers. I cut, rip or otherwise manipulate the elements, making decisions about what works and what is needed to complete the artwork. Pieces are added bit by bit, like a puzzle, until the composition evolves. Acrylic paint is sometimes added as necessary to tone down or highlight different areas. Creating something visually exciting from unrelated items, each with its own texture and dimensionality, is a delightful challenge.
